Nominate a local restaurant in your community to win a grant worth $50,000. Through the difficulties of the past year, restaurants have been there for their communities. They've pivoted to takeout, provided meals to essential workers, and so much more. Chase Sapphire is a proud supporter of local restaurants, and wants to help you give back to the restaurants that helped you during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Small Business Restaurant: A Small Business Restaurant (herein after referred to as "Restaurant") that meets all of the following criteria:
- Be an incorporated business or a DBA located in the fifty (50) United States including the District of Columbia;
- Owned by a legal resident(s) of the fifty (50) United States including the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years of age or older;
- Has been in operation prior to or as of March 1, 2020;
- Had indoor dining prior to March 1, 2020;
- Has a valid employer identification number or tax payer identification number;
- Employ no more than fifty (50) full-time employees as of the time of entry (excluding such staff as, but not limited to, part-time staff; seasonal staff; vendors; delivery staff, etc.); and
- Has no more than two (2) restaurant locations.
Nominator: A Nominator is someone (an individual) wishes to submit an Entry on behalf of a restaurant (which can include their own Restaurant if they meet the criteria) into the Sapphire Supports Contest (also referred to as the "Entrant").
Nominee: A Nominee is a restaurant owner(s) that the Nominator is submitting an Entry about and that meets the criteria of a Restaurant as described above (also referred to as the "Restaurant" and/or "Restaurant Owner(s)").
Restaurant Owner(s): Any and all person(s) who are responsible for the financial profitability, operations, management, direction of the restaurant establishment (including all partners and/or silent partners) or has a beneficial interest in the Restaurant.
Potential Winner(s)/Winner(s): The Potential Winner(s) and/or Winner(s) will be the Restaurant stated within the winning Entry. For purposes of clarity, unless a sole proprietor restaurant, the prize will be awarded in the name of the Restaurant (not to the nominator.)
Region: as defined by the U.S. Census Regions and Divisions of the United States map which is broken down into the following four (4) regions:
- Northeast: which includes the following states CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, and VT.
- South: which includes the following states: AL, AR, District of Columbia, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WV.
- Midwest: which includes the following states: IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, OH, SD, and WI.
- West: which includes the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, WY, UT, and WA.
ELIGIBILITY: You may nominate your own Restaurant, subject to the conditions and limitations on eligibility set forth in these Official Rules. Nominators and Nominees must be: a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia ("D.C.") and who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at time of entry.Nominees must be: a Restaurant as defined above. Employees of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (the "Sponsor" or "Chase"), The Infatuation Inc., MediaCom, VaynerMedia, Millennium Communications, Inc. and Marden-Kane, Inc. (the "Administrator") and each of their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees, and the immediate families (spouse, and parents, children and siblings, and their respective spouses regardless of where they live) (collectively "Releasees"), and individuals living in the same households, whether related or not, of the above, are not eligible to enter or win a prize. For purposes of clarity a Chase employee may nominate a restaurant but any Chase employee or immediate family member or members living in the same household are not eligible to be entered or win a prize. Each Entrant by participating in the Contest agrees to be bound by the Official Rules and Sponsor's decisions which are final and binding. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
The Contest begins on July 19, 2021 at 9:00:00 AM Eastern Time ("ET") and ends on August 16, 2021 at 11:59:59 PM ET (the "Entry Period"). Entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM ET on August 16, 2021. For purposes of this Contest, a "day" is defined as a 24-hour period, beginning at 12:00:00 AM ET and ending at 11:59:59 PM ET except for the first day of the Search where a day is defined as beginning at 9:00:00 AM ET and ending at 11:59:59 PM ET. The Sponsor's computer, or that of its designee, runs the official clock for the Contest and will solely determine the time by which an entry is received.
During the Contest there are a series of Contest-related "events" (explained in detail in the Rules below), which start and end on or about the dates and times noted below

HOW TO ENTER:
To enter (as "Nominator"), go online to https://chase.com/sapphire-supports anytime during the Entry Period and follow the on-screen instructions and the instructions herein:  Complete the registration form by providing the information required; and  In the space provided on the Entry form create an original essay up to 3000-character counts describing a local restaurant that's deserving of a $50,000 grant to help their business after such a challenging year. Specifically tell us about: 1) The role the restaurant plays in your community, 2) what they have done differently to get through the pandemic, and 3) Why this is your favorite restaurant (collectively the "Entry"). Once you have completed your Entry, click the "Submit" button to enter.
Terms of Nomination:
- A Nominator may enter their own Restaurant.
- A Nominator may enter more than one Restaurant so long as each Entry is a separate Entry, and meets all Entry requirements.
- A Restaurant may be entered multiple times so long as each Entry is from a different Nominator.
- Multiple entries that do not comply with the Official Rules may be disqualified.
- No group submissions allowed.
Important Information About Your Entry:
- "Entry" is defined, for purposes of this Contest, as including the Entry Form and the essay. Any additional materials submitted with Entry (i.e., website URL's, newspaper clippings, etc.) will not be judged and will not be acknowledged.
- Each Entry submitted online must be COMPLETELY filled out including the essay in the Entry Form.
- Entries must be submitted in English.
- Entries received that are illegible, incomplete, or are not submitted online will be disqualified.
- Nominator certifies that the submission is his/her original work, accurate to the Restaurants work, and that he/she has all rights to the submission; that it has not been previously entered into another Contest, published, released, or distributed; does not infringe on any third-party rights; and is suitable for the Contest.
- Nominators irrevocably assign to Sponsor with full title guarantee all intellectual property and other rights, which they now have or may in the future have to the Entries, or any elements thereof, including without limitation, the copyright therein, the right to make derivative works, copies and to use for any purpose whatsoever all media, royalty-free worldwide perpetuity. Sponsor shall have the right to assign or dispose of such Entries however it sees fit without approval of the Nominator or Nominee.
- Sponsor is under no obligation to correspond about Nominator or Nominee and Entries will not be acknowledged or returned.
Restricted Content: The content restrictions that follow apply to all Entries. Submissions may NOT include content that:
- contains any misuse of brand names;
- depicts any person/restaurant other than Restaurant they are Nominating;
- uses any third-party trademarks, company names or logos, commercial or corporate advertising or artwork, or recognizable branded products or locations;
- violates any third party property or other rights including, but not limited to: copyrights, trademark, right of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary rights;
- involves libelous, defamatory, disparaging, tortuous or slanderous materials;
- involves nudity, or adult-oriented or sexually-explicit behavior or subjects;
- involves explicit or offensive language or content;
- involves violence;
- portrays imitations of people or characters from movie/TV shows, etc.;
- portrays discrimination;
- promotes illegal activities of any kind;
- promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, age or any basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance, or regulation;
- denigrates, disparages or reflects negatively on the Sponsor, its products, or employees, or on any other person, company, product, or service;
- is unlawful or contrary to the laws or regulations in the State in which the Submission was created;
- is confidential; and/or
- promotes a political agenda regardless of the political affiliation.
If a Submission includes any of the prohibited content listed above, at the sole determination of Sponsor, the Entry will be disqualified. The above list is not intended to be exhaustive; Sponsor may disqualify an Entry if it includes any content which, in Sponsor's opinion, is otherwise unsuitable in connection with this Search. Sponsor reserves the right to reject or disqualify any Entry at any time, in its sole discretion, without incurring any liability.
JUDGING: During the Judging/Selection Period, all eligible entries will be judged by a panel of qualified judges (including representatives from Sponsor and its marketing agencies) under the supervision of the Administrator on the basis of the following criteria. All eligible entries received will be scored based on the following judging criteria*:
- Restaurant's display of integrity, impact to and leadership in the community (60 points)
- Restaurant's innovation or creativity during the pandemic (20 points)
- Nominator's passion for the restaurant (20 points)
*In the event of a tie, the Winner(s) will be determined based on whichever Entry received the highest score in the impact to the community from the judging criteria. In the event of a tie in both judging criteria, the Entries will be re-judged by a different panel of judges.
GRAND PRIZE WINNERS ("Winners"):
All eligible Entries received during the Contest Period will be sorted into four (4) regions (as defined in the Terms section above) (collectively, "Regions"). The Grand Prize Winners will be the five (5) entries who received the highest scores in each Region. All prizes may not be awarded if not enough eligible entries are received in a Region.
There will be a total of Twenty (20) Prize Winners (five (5) winners in each Region): $50,000 grant. Prize will be awarded in the form of a check made payable to the Restaurant. Retail Value ("RV"): $50,000.00 each. Total Retail Value of all prizes: $1,000,000.00. All prizes will be awarded so long as enough eligible Entries are received. Limit one (1) prize per Restaurant.
Prize Conditions: Winners are responsible for the payment of all taxes on the prizes. By accepting the prize, Winner(s) understand and agree, that he/she may be videotaped, recorded and/or photographed and Sponsor may schedule media interviews or a photo/video shoot which Winner will be required to participate in and may be required to execute additional documentation in regards to such participation. Rights to any video, audio, photo or interview is owned solely by Sponsor and can be used in any media throughout the world in perpetuity and in any manner at Sponsor's sole discretion without further review, notice, approval, consideration or compensation to the Winner or any third party. Winners must also agree to participate in any Sponsor provided media training or media preparation. Winners must agree not to disclose that they are a Winner of the Contest until Sponsor has made the public announcement. All details of prizes not specified herein shall be determined solely by Sponsor. Except as provided herein, no cash, transfers or prize substitution is allowed except at the discretion of Sponsor, who reserves the right where lawful to substitute a prize (or prize component) with one of comparable or greater value. If prize cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of Sponsor, a substitute prize of equal or greater retail value will be awarded; provided, however, that if prize is awarded but unclaimed or forfeited by recipient, prize may not be re-awarded, in Sponsor's sole discretion. By accepting the prize, Winner acknowledges compliance with these Official Rules. In no event will more Contest prizes be awarded than those listed in these Official Rules.
Year-end tax information: Some, or all, of the amounts(s) discussed above may be reportable to the IRS. If required by the IRS, we'll report the amount sent to you on an IRS Form 1099-MISC (Miscellaneous Income Information) or Form 1042-S (Foreign Person's U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding) in the appropriate tax year.
The Administrator will contact each potential winning restaurant owner (the Nominee as per the Entry) on or about September 27, 2021 as stated in the Timing Chart above. A Nominee/Restaurant is not deemed a winner of any prize, even if the winning notification should so indicate, unless and until (i) the Restaurant's eligibility has been verified, (ii) all requirements determined by the Sponsor in order to claim his/her prize have been fulfilled and (iii) the Entrant has been notified that the acceptance and verification process is complete. Potential winning restaurant owners will be notified via email and/or phone that were provided on the entry and will be required to respond to the notification within three (3) business days of notification. Potential winning restaurant owners will be required to complete, sign, and return  an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and; where legal, a Publicity Release;  an Entrant Agreement and Release;  a Background Check Authorization Form (collectively, the "Releases"); and (4) an IRS Form W-9 and furnish his/her social security number or the winner's Employer Identification Number that will be used only for the purpose of reporting the Winner's prize earnings to the Internal Revenue Service, as required by law. Completed documents must be returned within three (3) business days from prize notification date or the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate potential winner. Any false statement made by a potential winner will result in automatic disqualification.
If a potential Prize Winner does not return the required documents within the stated timeframe, cannot be contacted, or if any notification/Document is returned as undeliverable, or if a potential winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, the potential winning Entry will be disqualified and the Entry with the next highest score will be notified, time permitting, at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to conduct background checks of the potential winners. If the prize is won by an eligible small business owner who is not of the legal age of majority in the state of residence ("minor"), the required documents must be confirmed and signed by Prize Winner's parent or legal guardian, and the prize will be awarded in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian, who will be required to fulfill all requirements imposed on the Prize Winner set forth herein.
In addition, you acknowledge and agree that the Releasees reserve the right to disqualify any Potential Prize Winner or Alternate at any time, in their sole discretion, on the basis of anything contained in or learned or obtained as a result of any background check, submitted Releases, or any other forms requested by the Releasees that, in their sole opinion, would constitute a breach of these Official Rules or otherwise.
By entering the Promotion, Entrants, or, if minors, their parents or legal guardians, agree to the use by Sponsor and its designees of their names, cities and states of the small business and photographs/likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes for this and similar promotions, worldwide, and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised (including and without limitation, the Internet) without additional compensation, notification, or permission, except where prohibited by law. Upon request, Prize Winners must consent to such in writing.
GRANT OF RIGHTS: By entering, except where prohibited by law, each Entrant grants to the Sponsor and their agents and assigns in perpetuity the irrevocable, sub-licensable, absolute right and permission to use, edit, modify, cut, rearrange, add to, delete from, copy, reproduce, translate, separate, dub, adapt, publish, combine with other material, reuse, adapt, and exploit the content of and elements embodied in the Submission in any and all media, including but not limited to paper format, digital and electronic media, computer, audio and audiovisual media (whether now existing or hereafter devised), in any language, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation. Each Entrant agrees that the Releasees may, but are not required to attribute the Submission to an Entrant. Each Entrant waives and releases the Releasees from any and all claims that Entrant may now or hereafter have in any jurisdiction based on "moral rights" or "droit moral" or unfair competition with respect to the Releasees' exploitation of entries without further notification or compensation to Entrants of any kind, and agrees not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against the Releasees and each of their affiliates, licensees, or any other person in connection with this Promotion, on the grounds that any use of any elements embodied in the Submission or any derivative works, infringe or violate any of Entrant's rights therein. Each Entrant agrees to execute any documents that Releasees may require to affect such grant of rights. Each Prize Winner grants the Releasees the right to use and publish his/her name, entry submission or elements, likeness, picture, voice, and/or any information contained in his/her Submission, online, in print and in any other media for advertising and promotional purposes worldwide, and in perpetuity without additional compensation, notice, review, or approval, unless prohibited by law. Nothing contained in these Official Rules obligates the licensed entities to make use of any of the rights granted herein and Prize Winner waives any right to inspect or approve any use.
Each Entrant acknowledges that other Entrants may have created ideas and concepts contained in their Submission that may have familiarities or similarities to his/her own Submission, and that he/she will not be entitled to any compensation or right to negotiate with the Promotion Entities because of these familiarities or similarities. The decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Promotion, including interpretation and application of these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to request from Entrant at any time proof that Entrant maintains all necessary rights in their Submission in order to grant Sponsor the rights required herein in a form acceptable to Sponsor. Failure to provide such proof may lead to, among other things, the Entrant being disqualified from the Promotion.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Except where prohibited by law, each potential winner's entry and acceptance of a prize constitutes the potential winner's irrevocable, sub-licensable, absolute right and permission for the Sponsor and its designees to use, publish, post or display the potential winner's name, entry submission, statements, biographical information, voice, city and state address, any quotes attributable to him or her, photographs/likenesses and any other indicia of persona (regardless of whether altered, changed, modified, edited, used alone, or used with other material in Sponsor's sole discretion) for any purpose, including but not limited to advertising and promotional purposes for this and similar promotions, worldwide, and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised (including and without limitation, the Internet) without additional authorization, opportunity to review, approval, notification or compensation and each potential winner releases Releasees from any and all liability related thereto.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Use of any automated entry software is prohibited. Electronically reproduced, mechanically reproduced, illegible, incomplete or inaccurate entries are void. By participating, Entrants agree to comply with these Official Rules including all eligibility requirements. In case of a dispute as to the owner of an online entry, online entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder from which the entry is made. Caution: Any attempt by an Entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any online service or web site or undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE OF CLAIMS:
By participating in the Contest, Entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees, and each of their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders and employees from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting from or arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession, use, misuse or nonuse of the prize (including any travel or travel-related activity thereto) that may be awarded. This Contest and these Official Rules shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware without regard to its principles of conflicts of law. Jurisdiction and venue shall be solely within the State of Delaware. Releasees are not responsible for technical, computer, mechanical, printing, typographical, human or other errors relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes or in any Contest related materials; or for stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, inaccurate, undelivered, delayed or illegible entries or; for electronic, computer, or telephonic malfunction or error, fail to enter into the processing system, or are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason including computer, telephone, paper transfer, or process any transaction thereon. If, in the Sponsor's opinion for any reason, the Contest is not able to run as planned for reasons which may include, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, including soliciting of applications in a manner inconsistent with Sponsors' policies or procedures or any other causes which may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, including any other factors beyond Sponsor's reasonable control such as a Force Majeure (e.g., war, riots, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, blackouts, supply shortages, order of governmental authority,) an "act of God" (e.g., natural disasters, weather, etc.) or an unforeseeable health event (e.g. pandemic or epidemic), then the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, without further liability to the Entrants or third parties. In the event the Contest is cancelled prior to the stated end date, a notice will be posted on the Contest web site; and Sponsor reserves the right to conduct the judging and award prizes from among all eligible non-suspect Entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. As a condition of entering the Contest, Entrants agree that: a.) under no circumstances will Entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and Entrants hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; b.) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or the prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and c.) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, if any, but in no event shall Entrant be entitled to receive attorneys' fees or other legal costs, and in no event to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250). Sponsor reserves the right to modify prize award procedures at their discretion. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.
Information collected from Entrants is used only for the purpose of awarding prizes, operating the Contest consistent with the Official Rules and to notify Winners, and will not be re-used, sold or shared in any manner by Sponsor or any third parties unless Entrant has opted-in to receive additional information andpromotional material from Sponsor or a third party. Once the Contest, including any known or unknown extensions of the Contest, has ended, all information supplied by Entrants will be removed from the database.
To request the list of winners, send an e-mail with subject line Chase Sapphire Supports Restaurants Winners to firstname.lastname@example.org. Requests must be received no later than October 15, 2021. The list will be sent when the judging has been conducted and the winners verified.
